Legally Green: What Lawyers Need to Know about Sustainable Design
William Quatman and Karen Stelling
Mr. Quatman is vice-president and general counsel for the engineering firm of Burns & McDonnell. Prior to joining Burns & McDonnell, Mr. Quatman, who is a licensed architect, practiced construction law in private practice for over 24 years. He is the first person to ever become both a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Designated Design-Build Professional of the Design-Build Institute of America. Ms. Stelling, an associate vice president and mechanical engineer, has been with Burns & McDonnell for 20 years. She leads Burns & McDonnellís efforts in incorporating sustainable design into facility projects, providing sustainability training and developing LEED Accredited Professionals.

Mr. Waldrop is a senior shareholder in the law firm of Lewis, King, Kreig & Waldrop, P.C., where he chairs the firmís Construction Law Practice Division. Mr. Waldrop has represented contractors, design professionals, developers, owners, sureties and material suppliers in a wide range of construction industry matters for almost 30 years. In addition, he has over 25 years of experience in defending major lawsuits against designers with single-suit claims as high as $250 million dollars.

Mr. Mishu is vice-president and principal engineer of Geotek Engineering Co., Inc. and has over 26 years of experience in geotechnical, geo-environmental, and construction materials testing. Mr. Bartley is a partner with the law firm of Schulman, LeRoy & Bennett, P.C., where his areas of practice include civil litigation with an emphasis on construction law, general business transactions, real estate and bankruptcy.
